Assistant Program Manager
The Role
The GM Robotics Engineering team plays a critical role in the successful execution of advanced manufacturing robotics systems from concept, to launch and beyond. As we build our organization and roll out our product portfolio the team is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Program Manager responsible for managing GM efforts to design, source and manufacture advanced robotic products.
In this role, you will be responsible for seeing the whole picture of the program from initial program approval, design and engineering development through go-to-market launch, lifecycle, and end of production. You will plan, lead, develop and analyze information necessary to support program leadership decisions regarding the product and business.
A great APM balances navigating ambiguity along with a checklist mentality regarding process and execution. A high level of independent judgment and considerable creativity is necessary to solve unique execution and business opportunities. Making the complex simple is a top skill of APMs. Likewise, detailed documenting and communicating of program decisions regarding product content and strategies enables quickness, clarity, and efficiency across product development. APMs also develop and maintain policies and procedures related to Global Program Management and the Product Execution Teams.
- Develop and lead execution of GM Robotics joint venture projects
- Drive program readiness & ensure on-time execution for GM Robotics joint venture project
- Assist development of business case for GM Robotics joint venture project content changes
- Support presentation preparation, including senior leadership gate reviews (VPE, PSD, GPLE)
- Advise other functions supporting the Product Execution Teams
- Ensure internal / external customer voices are understood by the PET
- Handle a variety of non-recurring special assignments
- Support and backup Program Manager responsibilities
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 3+ years experience in Vehicle Development, Planning, Engineering Operations, Program Management or Design
- Demonstrated proficiency in project or program management with quantifiable results (on-time project execution, demonstrated financial gain)
- Cross-functional knowledge of the business: including Manufacturing, Marketing, Finance, and Planning
- Strong analytical skills to effectively address and resolve complex and atypical challenges within manufacturing projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Strong background/knowledge in customer research and/or competitive product
- Proficiency with project management software like Microsoft Project or Jira
- Knowledge of risk assessment techniques, such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) or Risk Matrix
- Knowledge of GM corporate processes and procedures

Job Description
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren – GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Enterprise Launch Specialist team partners with all functions of the organization to provide enterprise savings for increased profitability. The organization is currently focused on two initiatives: manufacturing cost and part number/complexity reduction. The team has a direct impact on shaping our business to be successful both financially and strategically.
Finance Analysts within the Enterprise Launch Specialist team are responsible for financial analysis, and development of business cases for strategic projects to quantify enterprise profitability. Projects frequently have high exposure to Senior Finance, Manufacturing, and Product Development Executives.
Successful team members in this role are highly motivated, results driven individuals that pose strong analytic and technical skills. They execute strategic initiatives that drive higher corporate profitability and partner with global cross-functional teams.
- Utilize pertinent financial data from multiple sources and perspectives to inform decisions
- Develop and utilize financial modeling techniques to evaluate business opportunities using sensitivity and scenarios to quantify risks and opportunities
- Identify new value-added analysis to improve decision making
- Build relationships and collaborate with other functions and business units for optimal enterprise decisions, anticipate downstream impacts of new strategies
- Relate assignments to business objectives and results, integrate with business purpose
- Proactively work to resolve issues and move project tasks forward
- Develop and present insights and well thought out recommendations to senior leaders

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related
- 3+ years of finance experience
- Advanced Excel skills, strong modeling, financial valuation or related
