Role Summary

As a data scientist on the analysis track, your mission will be to improve the quality of the decisions made across product and business via relevant, reliable, and actionable data. You will own a particular domain across product and business and will work closely with the corresponding product and business managers as part of a talented team of data scientists and data engineers. You will own the entire data value chain including logging, data modeling, analysis, reporting, and experimentation.

  • Leveraging ambiguous business problems as opportunities to drive objective criteria using data.
  • Developing a deep understanding of the product experiences and business processes that make up your area of focus.
  • Developing a deep familiarity with the source data and its generating systems through documentation, interacting with the engineering teams, and systematic data profiling.
  • Contributing heavily to the design and maintenance of the data models that allow us to measure performance and comprehend performance drivers for your area of focus.
  • Working closely with product and business teams to identify important questions that can be answered effectively with data.
  • Delivering well-formed, relevant, reliable, and actionable insights and recommendations to support data-driven decision making through deep analysis and automated reports.
  • Designing, planning and analyzing experiments (A/B and multivariate tests).
  • Supporting product and business managers with KPI design and goal setting.
  • Mentoring other data scientists in their growth journeys.
  • Contributing to improving our ways of work, our tooling, and our internal training programs.
What Did We Order?

Technical Experience
  • Excellent SQL.
  • Competence with reproducible data analysis using Python or R.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and dimensional design.
  • Strong command over the entire data analysis lifecycle including; problem formulation, data auditing, rigorous analysis, interpretation, recommendations, and presentation.
  • Familiarity with different types of analysis including; descriptive, exploratory, inferential, causal, and predictive analysis.
  • Deep understanding of the various experiment design and analysis workflows and the corresponding statistical techniques.
  • Familiarity with product data (impressions, events, ..) and product health measurement (conversion, engagement, retention, ..).
  • Familiarity with BigQuery and the Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
  • Data engineering and data pipeline development experience (e.g. via Airflow) is a plus.
  • Experience with classical ML frameworks (e.g. Scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, ...) is a plus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, technology, or similar fields. A postgraduate degree is a plus but not required.
  • 3+ years of overall experience working in data science and machine learning.
  • Experience doing data science in an online consumer product setting is a plus.
  • A good problem solver with a ‘figure it out’ growth mindset.

Role Summary

We’re looking for an Inventory Controller to join the team and focus on growing our own Grocery Store “Talabat Mart”, which is the region’s first cloud store concept offering 30-minute delivery of groceries at hypermarket prices. Launched in Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt and Oman and the service is expanding fast to Iraq as well.

What’s On Your Plate?
  • Managing the full operations end to end (inventory management, pick-pack process, property/asset management, operational standards, expense control, maintenance related)
  • Inventory management: Ensure correct processes, policies and proper execution of inventory management (stock-in and stock-out). Shrink/Expiry control and Quality focus (in terms of inventory no damaged or poor fresh food quality; close to expiry).
  • Pick-Pack process: Ensure efficient and correct pick and pack process and service level(starting with ensuring availability, picking up the correct item/quantity at the correct price) & proper management of the staffing and scheduling as per demand to achieve desired UTR and service level.
  • Property / Asset management: Proper management of the property and facility, plus asset management and tracking.
  • Expense Control: Identify potential opportunities to reduce expenses with same operational efficiency.
  • Maintenance related: Define the guidelines for all engineering and maintenance tasks / equipment / key activities i.e. outsourcing VS internal services, local VS regional contracts, preventive maintenance plan, etc.
  • Managing Productivity, work standards, and development of store staff.
  • Monitoring and managing the store costs VS budget for the section.
  • Ensuring continuous improvement of current performance VS accepted standard/best practices at the store (i.e. stock level, productivity, service level).
  • Monitoring financial and operational performance of each store and initiating required actions for improvement.
  • Controlling and ensuring that equipment, infrastructure, etc. in stores are used and maintained properly.
  • Developing action plans with the department manager to address weak areas in need of improvement.
  • Instituting training and developmental programs for staff and monitoring effective implementation.
  • Ensuring proper implementation of merchandising and space planning guidelines in stores.
  • Monitoring product range availability according to selected store product range.
  • Develop preventive and regular maintenance plans.

You will be incharge of managing quality of inbound/outbound products in the warehouse as per the quality standards set by the company

What’s On Your Plate?
  • Oversees quality, freshness, and food safety of products in a distribution center as they flow from suppliers through distribution centers to stores.
  • Inspect quality of adequate samples of inbound and outbound warehouse products to ensure predefined quality standards are met
  • Ensures 3rd party compliance with company policies and procedures for all activities related to stock management (inbound, storage, handling and outbound)
  • Communicate with the commercial team regarding quality of products being received into the distribution center
  • Conduct cycle counts
  • Conduct regular check on ready to ship orders
  • Report/Escalate any major issues noticed to IC management in a timely manner
  • Monitoring performance of warehouse activities and practices, and preparing management and technical reports
  • Determine/Recommend required enhancements and/or training needs for 3rd party staff and discuss with management
  • Assess/Review implementation of approved policies & procedures and quality standards
Qualifications
